Grand Hotel: 5 takeaways from Season 1, Episode 2

On the latest Grand Hotel, Gigi and Alicia must both step up to the plate in order to save the hotel. Plus, Ingrid’s plan might have backfired.
Disagreements abound at the Riveria Grand when Gigi, Santiago, Alicia, and the twins all have different feelings about El Rey’s new job. He’s a nuisance of a hotel guest but desperate times call for desperate measures.
Santiago gets word from Mateo that his loan has been granted an extension, with a catch. He has to procure $500k by the end of the week, and his best bet of doing that is keeping El Rey on board for a showstopping concert beneath the stars – against his wife’s wishes.
The conflict over El Rey shows some of the marital discord between Santiago and Gigi. She doesn’t feel appreciated by her husband. He makes amends by giving her a shocking job promotion by episode’s end, but that’s far from the only shock of the hour.

5. Mateo is on to Ingrid’s scheme.
Ingrid’s plan to trick Javi into being the father of her baby doesn’t play out the way she anticipated. For starters, Javi doesn’t have money. He’s not exactly the apple of Santiago’s eye.
Ingrid’s hitched her wagon to the wrong horse. To make matters more complicated, Javi reveals his faux-child to Mateo (the bio-dad) in a bid to save Ingrid’s job (she was caught napping in a guest’s bed by Mrs. P).
Mateo’s reaction is to warn Ingrid she’s playing with fire. More ominous warnings about how “powerful” the Mendoza family is and how far they’re willing to go to keep said power. I’m still not sure what Ingrid’s endgame is. I don’t think she is either.
4. Sky may have known something about Beatriz’s death.
Danny breaks into Mrs. P’s office to check out the contents of Sky’s work locker. He finds an article clipping about Beatriz’s death.
In an earlier flashback, we witnessed some of Sky’s final moments leading up to her disappearance. She left Danny a panicked phone call about something she found. Sky never anticipated the stakes becoming so dire. The article makes me think Sky knows something about Beatriz’s death.
