Jenn Lyon: It’s incredible! This is the longest I have ever played one character and to have people respond to her and the show in the supportive way they have, just blows my mind every day.
HR: Jennifer and her husband Bryce (Kevin Rankin) had an interesting end to last season. Do you think their marriage is finally back on steady ground in season 3?
JL: I think they are stronger than they have ever been, having survived that together.
HR: They contemplated trying to leave town last season. Do you think they’d ever seriously move, or could they not fit in any place else?
JL: I think they both realize that their hearts belong to “this hillbilly s–tshow of a town” as she would say.
HR: Whether it’s her rocky marriage or things going on with her friends, Jennifer has been through a lot in the show’s history. How is she different in Claws season 3 than the character fans first met?
JL: She has grown to be more flexible in her patience and forgiveness, I think. She has seen herself fall and have to get picked up and need help and that makes her more understanding of others in the long run. She will still pop off, but now she knows how to apologize.
HR: Is her personal life finally stable this season? Or will the show tear it apart just as she and Bryce are back to good?
JL: It seems so stable, doesn’t it? You know that can’t last!
HR: Claws seems to make its plot twists bigger every season. So is there anything you’d like to see happen for Jennifer that hasn’t happened yet?
JL: I think we are only limited by our imaginations in this aspect. The world of the play that the writers have concocted makes the wildest things possible! I would like to see her maybe get to become an assassin of some sort and realize she is good at it.
HR: You mentioned that this is the longest you’ve ever played one character. So what has Jenn Lyon learned from portraying Jennifer Husser?
JL: Jen teaches me to speak my mind. She has no problem telling someone when they’ve f–ked up or when she loves them, and I am more reticent and scared in my own life. She isn’t really afraid of losing someone’s love, because she feels worth it and I admire that.
HR: So what do you love most about Claws?
JL: Getting to laugh my tits off every day with genuinely funny and weird people.
