What can fans expect from Marvel at SDCC?
Marvel will be hosting a panel at the annual San Diego Comic Con this July. So what should we expect from the major SDCC event?
It’s July, which to fans everywhere means it’s San Diego Comic Con month! With less than 2 weeks to go, the official schedule has now been released. The best part? After skipping the event in 2018, Marvel will make it’s return to the convention this year.
Marvel will have their panel in the famous Hall H on Saturday July 20th. The panel will last for 90 minutes and begins at 5:15pm PST. Good luck to everyone hoping to get in!
Marvel President Kevin Feige has been confirmed to attend and here is the panel synopsis from the official Comic Con website:
"Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige and surprise panelists provide an inside look at the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe."
So what can fans expect from what is likely to be the final panel/event for Marvel’s phase 3? Let’s discuss a few of the theories and rumors going around.
Kevin Feige is the only person confirmed to attend the panel so far, but it is the “surprise panelists” that has the internet buzzing. Rumors have long been flowing that the original 6 Avengers may make an appearance!

Should the original 6 Avengers show up at the convention, it will likely mark the final time they are all together. At least for a long while. It will also finally be a panel where they are all together and can actually discuss Avengers: Endgame! I can think of no better way to close out Phase 3 and the Infinity Saga.
It is highly likely that there could also be some actors showing up from Marvel’s future projects. Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, and Guardians of the Galaxy are all set to have new installments in their stories. There is also the upcoming Black Widow solo movie and The Eternals movie. So there are plenty of options.
Which brings us to Phase 4. In typical Marvel fashion, not much is known about Phase 4 yet but Comic Con seems like the best place to make some announcements in that regards. Perhaps we’ll at least get a clearer idea of which films we can expect to be released at what time.
If we’re very lucky we may even get some news or a sneak peek at the Black Widow movie, which has already begun filming. But I wouldn’t hold my breath. It’s Marvel after all, and they’re known for their secrecy.
Casting news has always been a popular thing to reveal at Comic Con. Therefore it wouldn’t be surprising at all if the event gave us our first look at some of the new faces joining the MCU. So apart from returning favorites, some fresh faces may be up on the comic con stage.
There is one big snag though. Marvel may be saving some of it’s best news for Disney’s own convention later this year. Disney’s D23 Expo will take place in August in Anaheim and Marvel is set to make an appearance there. It would make sense for Disney to want to reveal its biggest news at its own convention.
Marvel doesn’t like to disappoint its fans though, so whatever does get revealed at SDCC is sure to be exciting. It will be 90 minutes that will give fans plenty more to speculate and discuss for the months to come.
