The first season of the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy loosely followed the comic book it is based on, but will Season 2 follow the sequels?

I don’t know how many people had read “The Umbrella Academy” comics prior to the television show or how many went out and read them afterward, but I think we can all agree that even by comic book standards, Way’s graphic novel is really out there.

Based on the comic written by Gerard Way, lead singer of My Chemical Romance, The Umbrella Academy follows a family of adopted siblings with unique abilities raised to one day save the world. Starring Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, and Aidan Gallagher, Season 1 was released on February 15, 2019, to critical acclaim with over 45 million viewers binging it within the month. It was renewed for a second season in April and officially started production in July.

Not much has been said about the upcoming season except that Justin Min (Ben) has been bumped up to a series regular and that a location scout was searching for residential properties and farmhouses to film in. According to Screenrant, several rural Southern Ontario homeowners have received letters of interest in using their premises as a re-occurring location for the series. A new house perhaps? Someplace not tainted the memories of dear old dad?

There are three volumes to “The Umbrella Academy” comics, with the Netflix adaption following the first volume titled “Apocalypse Suite”, so it’s likely that Season 2 will follow what happened in the proceeding sequels, “Dallas” and “Hotel Oblivion”. Warning, possible spoilers ahead.
