Lifetime officially greenlights College Admissions Scandal and more true stories

Lifetime is beefing up their true story slate with four new follow-up documentaries to Surviving R. Kelly along with a Wendy Williams biopic and more!

Given the success of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly docuseries, it’s not surprising that the network has given the green light to a four-hour follow-up documentary titled Surviving R. Kelly: The Aftermath.

The network has also ordered an investigative documentary on Jeffrey Epstein in addition to a Wendy Williams biopic and companion documentary. Finally, they’ve ordered a movie about the recent college admissions scandal and announced the airdate for country music film, Patsy & Loretta.

Surviving R. Kelly: The Aftermath

This new documentary will feature interviews with survivors, psychologists, and experts on the case. At present, R. Kelly is facing federal charges. The initial documentary series garnered several awards for bringing to light survivor accounts of the R&B singer’s abusive history. It was recently nominated for an Emmy Award. It will be executive produced by Joel Karsberg and Jessie Daniels of Kreativ Inc.

Surviving Jeffrey Epstein

Epstein has been accused of sex crimes with minors and of using his financial connections to protect himself and famous clientele. He is now a registered sex offender. His enablers protected him for more than twenty years until his eventual FBI arrest earlier this month.

Wendy Williams biopic + documentary

Popular talk show host, Wendy Williams, has signed on to executive produce a biopic on her life. You’ll recognize her from her trademark catchphrase, “how you doin’?” and her notable gossip on celebrities. Her biopic will follow her journey from her days on urban radio all the way to the successful syndicated talk show she works on now. The biopic will be accompanied by a documentary on Williams’ life.

College Admissions Scandal

We all knew this was coming! Lifetime has officially ordered a two-hour movie on the college admissions scandal that roped in wealthy celebrities like Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman. The movie will follow the story of more than fifty privileged individuals being exposed for conspiring to influence undergraduate admissions decisions at the nation’s top universities.

Patsy & Loretta

For those of you who have been eagerly awaiting news on the upcoming film about the legendary friendship between iconic country music stars, Patsy Cline (Megan Hilty) and Loretta Lynn (Jessie Mueller), Lifetime has officially announced the air date for the film! It will premiere this fall, October 21, 2019.

Heaven, the first of V.C. Andrew’s upcoming film adaptations premieres on Lifetime this Saturday at 8/7c.
