It’s been a couple of months now since the bonkers comedy, Now Apocalypse aired its finale episode. STARZ has finally made a decision on the show’s future.

If you were a fan of the zany, out of this world (often, literally), orgiastic sex comedy that is Now Apocalypse, you’ve been eagerly awaiting any and all renewal news on the series.

We reported a few months ago that the odds were in Now Apocalypse’s favor. Despite having low ratings, it appeared work was well underway for a second season of the series. But unfortunately, STARZ has decided against ordering another round.

The decision came yesterday at the network’s TCA panel. Per Deadline, STARZ COO, Jeff Hirsch said, “It was a great show, it was a great experiment for us, but we have made the decision not to bring it back.”

It is disheartening for fans, especially because the first season didn’t answer many questions and ended with a shockingly grotesque scene still burning in my retinas. Perhaps, since there has been some script work already done for a sophomore season, it could be saved by another network.

Honestly, I think the odds of that happening are slim. The series is very out there, even for premium cable, it’s surprising it even made ten episodes to air. Then again, stranger things have happened so if you really want to see Avan Jogia, Beau Mirchoff, Tyler Posey, Roxane Mesquida, and Kelli Berglund return for more wild naked fun, make sure your voice is heard on social media!

As to why STARZ decided to nix the series, beyond having low ratings, it may not have been appealing to the right demographic. STARZ is making an effort to focus heavily on its female-oriented programs.

One of the reasons they axed the critically acclaimed series, Counterpart, is because it was “too male.” Whether or not you agree with that sentiment, it appears the network has a core focus in mind and Now Apocalypse may not fit into the present ideal they have.
