It all starts with a case of a trucker heading home and killing his family. However, this trucker has no memory of the events. All he remembers is that a woman at a gas station asked for a ride. Naturally, the footage at the gas station doesn’t help too much, as static appears on the CCTV footage just as she looks at the camera. The Winchesters know they’re dealing with a supernatural case.
However, Bobby speculates it’s something bigger. This is The Mother of All, also known as Eve.
Soon after, there’s a call from the Starlight Cannery, where someone has killed six others before he was killed by police. Rufus is there on the case and joins with Bobby as they head to the morgue to examine the body of the killer. There’s black ooze in one of the ears but this isn’t ectoplasm. Even these two older hunters are stumped.
Running into the Campbells
Rufus isn’t the only hunter on the case. Samuel and Gwen Campbell are also there. Naturally, Dean wants to kill his grandfather but Sam talks him out of it (for now).
When Gwen learns that Samuel had betrayed the Winchesters, she wants to talk to Dean in private. However, Dean shoots Gwen. The others are sure that he’s been infected and when they find Dean, he tells them that a worm crawled out of his ear. It’s a Khan Worm and now they all need to figure out how to kill it.
Bobby votes that they all lock their weapons in a locker. It would be a good idea, except that Samuel has a hidden gun and he gets infected by the worm. Samuel offers to tell Sam everything that happened during the soulless year, but Sam is forced to kill his grandfather.
Unsure if the worm has moved onto Sam, the hunters tie him up. Rufus and Bobby get ready to cut open Samuel’s body, where we learn that Bobby may have got someone Rufus cared for killed and Rufus can’t forgive that. The conversation has to move on as Samuel’s body is reanimated by the worm. When Samuel is electrocuted, the worm leaves the body and infects Bobby.
While controlled by the worm, Bobby stabs Rufus, killing him. The Winchesters brothers have no choice but to tie Bobby up now. They electrocute him to get rid of the Khan Worm, but also to get some answers. It turns out that Eve has created a new monster and she wants to destroy the world. What else is new in the world of Supernatural?
Killing the monster
The Winchesters electrocute Bobby long enough to kill the worm but not to kill Bobby. With the monster gone, it’s time to move onto dealing with the bodies of the hunters. While Samuel and Gwen can be given a hunter’s funeral, Bobby wants to do something different for Rufus.
Rufus was Jewish and burning the body isn’t allowed. So, they find a Jewish cemetery and bury him there. Bobby finishes it off by pouring Johnny walker Blue Label (Rufus’ favorite drink) over the grave and then takes a drink himself.
