With both her parents behind bars, Veronica’s home life will be quite interesting as Riverdale Season 4 begins – which will create plenty of drama!

As the third season of Riverdale came to a close, Veronica finally managed to pull one over on her dad, Hiram, in airing his dirty laundry for the authorities resulting in his arrest. While she managed to finally get her revenge on daddy dearest, Hiram had an unexpected ace up his sleeve which he happily played.

We’re of course referring to Hiram’s ploy which led to the arrest of his wife and Veronica’s mother, Hermione – who was taken into custody on charges of conspiracy to commit murder. Needless to say it was a plot twist neither Veronica or Hermione saw coming and one Riverdale actress Camila Mendes hopes will open the door for further exploration of Veronica’s relationship with her mother.

"“She put her dad in prison, but she didn’t want her mom to end up there. So I think she’s definitely sad about that. But I’m hoping we see that relationship explored more this season because last season, there was a lot of back and forth between those two characters,” Riverdale star Camila Mendes reflected  in speaking with press at Comic-Con.“Veronica didn’t know if she could trust her mom. Her mom was kind of in a sticky situation where she was being used and more like Hiram’s puppet at some points, but then would randomly be like the puppet master in a way. So I think Veronica was so skeptical of her all of season three,” Mendes continued. “In season four, I’d like to see a little bit more resolved between those two characters and see if they can be vulnerable each other again.”"

As Veronica and Hermione look to mend fences in Season 4, Hiram will continue to burn more bridges between himself and his now estranged daughter. Although he’ll remain in prison, Hiram’s reach will continue to be felt for Veronica as her father looks to make life as difficult as possible for her – including in throwing as many curveballs as possible in her path to getting into a good college.

"“Hiram is still scheming from prison,” Mendes revealed. “He is making her life very difficult. We find her in Episode Two, wanting to apply to Harvard and get into good colleges and Hiram is definitely going to be an obstacle in Veronica’s goals.”"
