Wondering if there’s a new episode of Euphoria on HBO tonight? Here’s your update on the breakout teen drama and when to expect Season 2.

If you had an internet connection and a Twitter account during the past eight weeks, then there’s a decent chance that you caught some buzz about the new hit HBO teen drama series Euphoria. Zendaya stars in the graphic series about Gen Z teenagers experiencing the highs and lows of adolescence and all of the issues facing teens today. But if you weren’t keeping up with the first season run, you’re probably expecting to catch a brand-new episode this Sunday.

Unfortunately, Euphoria wrapped its first season last week with a massive finale that had fans and critics chattering about the surprise, musical ending. HBO won’t be airing a new episode on Sunday, Aug. 11, but fans can rewatch all eight episodes and newcomers to the breakout hit series can catch up on HBO GO and HBO NOW before Season 2 premieres sometime in the next year. Trust us, it will be well worth the long wait for new episodes.

More from HBO

HBO’s first foray into teen-skewing content proved a risk that paid off. Euphoria continued to grow its ratings throughout the season, with the finale grabbing series highs thanks to a strong digital viewership. Once all of the discussion about the graphic nudity, violence, and drug use wore off, the controversial series received critical acclaim, gathered a powerful fanbase, and attracted early awards buzz for knockout leading star Zendaya, as well as other supporting cast members.

In the first season of Euphoria, 16-year-old Rue Bennett (Zendaya) leaves rehab after a drug overdose that put her in a coma, but she doesn’t have any intention of staying clean. Rue falls back into her deceptive and addictive ways at the end-of-summer party, where she meets an enchanting new friend named Jules (Hunter Schafer). Soon, Rue’s friendship with Jules inspires her to remain sober, even if she’s simply trading one dependence for another.

Euphoria also centers on a number of other troubled teens in Rue’s vicinity, such as Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), Maddy (Alex Demie), Kat (Barbie Ferreira), Nate (Jacob Elordi), McKay (Algee Smith), Fezco (Angus Cloud), and the under-utilized fan-favorite moral center Lexi (Maude Apatow). Many of the cast members are newcomers and are therefore breakout talents in an incredible ensemble. Without a doubt, they will continue to shine in Season 2.

In the season finale, Rue’s fate has been the center of debate, with some fans theorizing that she could have died, relapsed, or even been dead the entire time. However, that chilling musical number of Labrinth and Zendaya’s song “All For Us” left us on an emotional cliffhanger, just not the one some might have expected. Series creator Sam Levinson cleared up the popular fan theories about the season finale and offered an advanced glimpse into Euphoria’s future.
