Praise be that The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 was confirmed during the Hulu TCAs. There’s no doubt that we need it after those shocking and exciting turn of events in the third season finale.
While we got some good news in the third season, we were also left with some major questions. Each of our main players in this game of life and death were left in dangerous situations. The show has finally picked up the pace and raised the stakes, and anything is possible in Season 4.
These are the nine burning questions I need answered in The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4.
9. Can Serena Joy get out of the mess Fred landed her in?
The final left Serena in a dangerous position. It turns out she hadn’t told the Americans everything. Maybe she shouldn’t have told Fred what she’d done before he’d been sentenced for his crimes! I’m sure she and her American could have figured out a way around him finding out.
However, that didn’t happen. Fred’s decided to get revenge and now Serena has lost her immunity. In a way, I’m glad she’s getting her comeuppance. I’m sure Luke and Moira will be happy when they find out about it, too.
However, I do feel a little for her. She was clearly brainwashed into this mentality. Gilead wasn’t everything she wanted and she knows it’s dangerous for women. She was so blindingly desperate for a child that she was willing to do anything to get one.
Will Serena Joy be able to get out of this by claiming some sort of brainwashing or temporary insanity for her dreams? It wouldn’t surprise me if that’s her next move once she has time to think things through.
