Stop what you’re doing and tune into Acorn TV’s Keeping Faith. The second season drops later this month and you need to binge-watch the first season right away.
If you’re looking for a good mystery, Acorn TV has the perfect show for you right now. Keeping Faith Season 2 drops on the service later this month, but there’s plenty of time to catch up. You need to binge-watch the first season immediately.
Keeping Faith stars Eve Myles as Faith Howells, a lawyer and wife whose husband (played by Eve’s real-life husband, Bradley Freegard) just suddenly disappears. There are absolutely no clues as to where he could have gone, and naturally, everyone starts to fear the worst. Was he taken or has he killed himself?

Over the course of eight episodes, we follow Faith as she tries to piece the puzzle together. We only ever really find out just as much as Faith knows, although there are the odd flashbacks here and there. The flashbacks are more of a way to connect the pieces with the information that Faith finds along the way to show instead of tell us the information.
For those who want a good mystery thriller, this is a TV series you need to binge-watch right away. The episodes keep you on your toes. You’re constantly wondering if there’s anyone you can trust or if certain individuals know more than they’re willing to share. Everyone seems to has a motive, either for getting rid of Evan Howells or for framing Faith for something she didn’t do.
At first, it looks like the family will stick together. However, the cracks all begin to form. Tension and drama form within the family unit, as Faith struggles with who she can turn to while trying to prove her innocence. Fortunately, she has her wits about her and is knowledgable in criminal law to protect herself.
What I really loved about this show is that Faith isn’t perfect. She doesn’t come across as this stereotypical wife and mother. We’re introduced to her as a woman heading out with friends to celebrate a divorce, and she certainly has a few drinks too many. It’s soon clear that Faith has done this a few times, and it looks like her husband is getting fed up of her actions.
Too often, the lead female has to be painted in this innocent, positive light. We get to see Faith’s flaws throughout the season, including the way her anger and sometimes bad judgment can get the better of her. She becomes more of a real and grounded character, drawing us further into the story.
We also see her as a mother, trying to juggle work, finding her husband, and being a parent. She does have support around her, but that still doesn’t make things easy. There are moments where she makes choices that many parents would judge her for, like leaving her children alone in the house to hunt down a lead. She makes no apology for her flaws. You can either take her or leave her!
Even if you have watched every mystery thriller out there, you’re not going to be able to guess how Keeping Faith Season 1 works out and ends. There’s a significant cliffhanger to push us into the second season, but there are so many other elements to the first season that need wrapping up. We got lots of questions and only a handful of answers.
With only eight episodes, there’s plenty of time to catch up before the second season drops on Aug. 30. The episodes are an hour long, but they’re worth your time. And you’ll end up finding that, like me, you can’t stop watching after just one episode!
