Ranking all American Horror Story seasons up to AHS: 1984 from lame to rad
American Horror Story: 1984 premieres this fall. Here’s how all seasons rank, from totally lame to totally rad.
American Horror Story (AHS) reigns as FX’s groundbreaking horror series. So far, fans have enjoyed eight seasons, and American Horror Story: 1984 will be the ninth. Within a showbiz culture that values reboots, procedurals, and formulas, American Horror Story stands out.
Sure, there were some enjoyable shows on television when the series premiered in 2011. But it’s safe to say that Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk changed the game with the anthology series American Horror Story. The producers didn’t create the anthology concept, but they have perfected it.
Murphy and Falchuk embraced the model from the very beginning, with each season telling a different story with new characters. That changed a bit for one season. More on that later.
American Horror Story has been a merry-go-round of killer talent, with stars hopping on and off the thrill ride for various seasons. Each year, fans are treated to a few new faces, along with some returning cast members who come back for more scares.
Before American Horror Story: 1984 premieres, let’s take the time to revisit all of the previous seasons and see how they stack up.
