Blue’s Clues & You on Nickelodeon: 5 things to know

Adults, particularly young parents, were in their feels earlier this week when Nickelodeon announced the Blue’s Clues reboot, Blue’s Clues & You. Here are 5 things to know about the upcoming series.

If you didn’t grow up watching Blue’s Clues, you at least remember the adorable series playing as your younger siblings were glued to the screen. It was one of the best children programs back in the day, and frankly, they simply don’t make them like they used to! Or do they? Blue is returning to save preschool TV!

Nickelodeon released a clip to promote the reboot’s debut that had all millenials in tears. You likely have already seen all the tweets about it. The video, which you can rewatch below, gives us a first-look at Josh (Joshua Dela Cruz), the Blue’s Clues & You host, but it also brings back Joe (Donovan Patton) and Steve (Steve Burns). Someone pass me a box of tissues! It’s sweet to see Joe again, but Steve appearing truly warmed up our hearts and gave us all happy tears.

I must admit, I knew about Blue’s Clues & You a few months ago and feared Josh wouldn’t be welcomed by audiences and everyone would comment how no one asked for a reboot. So to see all the positive feedback and how excited everyone is for the series made me very happy. The kids of today are going to love this show and we can’t wait to get all the nostalgic feels.

Here are 5 things to know about Blue’s Clues & You: 

Who is Josh? Blue’s new caretaker is Joshua Dela Cruz. And while this is his first major appearance, the actor has starred in smaller roles in the show’s Bull, Time After Time, and Point Man. Don’t worry, all, Blue is in good hands and so is this series. Steve Burns even helped with casting so Josh has his seal of approval.

When does the series premiere? Be sure to tune in Monday, Nov. 11, at 9 a.m. (ET/PT).

Will Joe and Steve continue making appearances? Steve and Joe will appear in the series premiere, “Meet Josh!,” but will likely not make more cameos after that. We can always hope, though!

Upgrades: Why does Blue look different? Blue, as well as Magenta and a few others, are now CG-animated. The Handy Dandy Notebook also has a new look and fits the modern world as a notebook-and-smartphone in one. The question is, what about Mailbox? Snail Mail is still fun to receive! Finally, Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper have two new additions — twins Sage and Ginger.

The premise: Aside from a few upgrades and modern takes, the show’s premise is still the same. Blue’s Clues & You will follow Blue as she “invites viewers to join her and Josh on a clue-led adventure and solve a puzzle in each episode. With each signature paw print, Blue identifies clues in her animated world…”
