Everything coming to BritBox in September 2019: The Victim, Shetland, and more
BritBox brings the third season of Shetland to its streaming service in September. There’s also a new Original. Check out everything arriving next month.
There’s plenty of new and exciting content making its way to BritBox in September. Whether you want a good crime drama or you’re looking for a comedy, the streaming service with all things British has you covered.
One of the notable arrivals is Shetland Season 3. After airing the fourth and fifth seasons to the U.S. through the service, BritBox is working through adding the older seasons. Last month it was all about the first two seasons and now you can get all caught up with the third.
More from Streaming
- The story of a French emperor: Here’s where Napoleon will stream after theaters
- ACOTAR on Hulu: Is A Court of Thorns and Roses based on a book?
- Bridgerton season 3: All the details to know about Penelope and Colin’s love story

- The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes: The Hunger Games prequel will come to Peacock but not until 2024
And if that wasn’t enough in the crime drama aspect, there’s a new BritBox Original on its way. Look out for The Victim, a four-part miniseries starring Kelly MacDonald, John Hannah, and James Harkness. This Scottish drama will be told over the course of four weeks, so you’ll have some time to digest the information and get ready for the next episode.
MacDonald plays Anna Dean, a woman who suffered a terrible loss 14 years earlier when her young son was murdered by a much older boy. Years later, Dean accuses family man, Craig Meyers, of the crime, posting his name and location. Naturally, it leads to Craig being beaten. The two play a game of cat and mouse, almost, as Dean attempts to get justice for her son while Meyers tries to salvage his reputation.
For fans of medical dramas, you’ll be happy to hear that The Royal Seasons 6 to 8 are going to be available on BritBox in September. This British drama is set in the 1960s, telling the story of doctors and nurses as they tackle the medical problems (and laws) of the time in a small village hospital.
For the comedy fans out there, the streamer is bringing three titles to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Monty Python’s Flying Circus. Look out for Ripping Yarns, the 1980 version of The Taming of the Shrew, and the second season of Hold the Sunset, another BritBox Original for the month.
