Legacies: 8 details, new castings, and more to keep in mind for Season 2
By Mads Lennon
4. The twins’ love interests.
Lizzie may be getting a new love interest in the shape of an old vampire played by Thomas Doherty. You might recognize Doherty from Disney’s Descendants where he plays Harry Hook.
Interestingly, Plec went on record stating they would try to be “a little bit just socially responsible” in creating any inappropriate pairings of ancient vampires with young teenage-girls as occurred in The Vampire Diaries. I guess she might have changed her mind.
As for Josie, don’t expect to see Penelope returning any time soon. Sorry, #Posie fans. According to TVLine, Julie Plec has confirmed that Penelope has moved on, at least for the time being.
3. Rafael is stuck in wolf form.
If you recall, at the end of season one, Rafael was stuck in his werewolf form. Again, when speaking with TVLine, Julie Plec confirmed that Rafael would indeed be starting season two in his wolf form. With Hope gone, no one knows what has happened to him or how to help him. It’s a little bit like the curse of the Crescent Pack from The Originals.
In Plec’s own words:
"“He’s f–ed, basically. Hope had said in a previous episode that he can use the ring to turn into a werewolf, but she’s the only one who can turn him back. He doesn’t realize that the one person who can fix him is no longer in existence.”"
2. Alaric may no longer be the headmaster.
At the end of the season, TRIAD initiated a deadly attack on the Salvatore school. They used a blood fountain created by Travelers to disable all supernatural abilities from the students. We find out that Alaric is the one who installed the fountain as a fail-safe if he ever needed it.
He feels immense guilt for having put his students in danger and for ever doubting them. He decides to put the status of his job in the hands of the honor council. They will determine if he gets to stay or if he should step down.
1. Hope sacrificed herself to the Malivore, and now no one remembers her.
To prevent Ryan Clarke from bringing his father, aka the Malivore, back to life and from sacrificing Landon, Hope ultimately sacrifices herself into the pit. We see the effect immediately as everyone at the Salvatore Boarding School forgets about her existence.
What will happen to Hope moving forward? It’s highly unlikely she’s gone for good. Where will the Malivore take her? Into another dimension? Who will be the first to remember her, and how?
