Everything we know about SEAL Team Season 3 so far
SEAL Team will be back before we know it. There’s some exciting news coming out at the moment. Here’s everything we know about SEAL Team Season 3 so far.
The start of the fall TV season is almost here, and SEAL Team Season 3 is one of the many CBS shows returning. We’ll finally get to see where Bravo Team is after the attempt to split it up and the aftermath of Mandy’s demotion.
Of course, we have many questions that will have to wait until the show returns. However, there are some questions that we can already get answers to. Here’s everything we know about SEAL Team Season 3 so far.
Who’s returning for SEAL Team Season 3?
More from CBS
- Mamie’s plan is advanced on Thanksgiving (Young and the Restless Nov. 22 recap)
- The Young and the Restless recap (Nov. 21): J. Eddie Peck returns as Cole
- Blue Bloods is ending in Fall 2024 but not with a season 15 like we hoped
- FBI: Most Wanted season 5 release date, cast shake up, and everything to know before the premiere in 2024
- Kyle follows his family’s plan on Young and the Restless (Nov. 20 recap)
There are no confirmed exits, so we can take that as meaning everyone will return for the season. David Boreanaz is definitely back, as the synopsis for the premiere says that he’s leading his team on a mission in Serbia (the first episode was also shot on location in Serbia).
Neil Brown Jr., A.J. Buckley, Max Thieriot, Tony Trucks, Jessica Paré, and Judd Lormand have also been spotted in photos from the premiere, among others. It will be interesting to see how some of the characters return. Paré’s Mandy was off the team as the CIA support and Trucks’ Lisa had graduated from officer training at the end of the last season.
According to TVLine, Mandy will find herself in the field after her demotion. She’s now an analyst and interrogator for all of DEVGRU. That means she’ll probably end up in a lot of the same places as Bravo Team, even though she’s not attached to the guys.
Alona Tal hasn’t been spotted and there’s been no word on whether she will return as Stella. It did seem like Stella and Clay’s storyline had fully wrapped, allowing Tal to move onto the NYPD Blue reboot that is still in the works.
We’ll likely see Kerri Medders back now and then. Her character did go off to college at the end of the last season, which will limit the amount she’d be needed.
Most importantly, expect to see Dita the Hair Missile Dog back. Cerberus is a loyal part of the team and SEAL Team wouldn’t be the same without him! He has been spotted in the odd tweet from the team on set.

Who’s new in the season?
While there are plenty of returning faces, there are also some new faces. If Buckley and Tal weren’t enough, SEAL Team is getting a little more Supernatural. Emily Swallow will play Dr. Natalie Pierce in the season. Her job is to test the operational longevity of Bravo Team, and it sounds like she wants to keep the team in the field—and that’s where they want to be! Our sister site SPN Hunters has more information.
Deadline reports that Bloodline‘s Rudy Dobrev and The Passage‘s Jamie McShane are choining the series in recurring roles. Dobrev will play Filip, a capable field agent who works for Serbia’s SIA. He’s been through many horrific wars, so another one isn’t going to affect him. However, he does want to prevent that war from breaking out. Expect him to work with Bravo Team but not always be happy with their decisions.
Meanwhile, McShane will take on the role of Captain Lindell. He has no allegiance to the past, good or bad. He’ll bring in a “new generation of operational adaptability” to the Tier One operatives. This is sure to cause friction somewhere along the lines, right?
What to expect in Season 3
The cast has been quiet about the future of the season. However, after the events of the second season, Boreanaz did share that there would be more character stories. As much as we love to see the boys in the field, this show needs character development.
The last season gave us some strong development for Brown’s Ray, who lost faith until he hit rock bottom. He almost lost his family and friends because of it, but was able to find a path back to them after a near-death experience.
Speaking of near-death experiences, Sonny was stuck in a torpedo tube that filled with water during one of the episodes. The team couldn’t do anything to get him out, and he did technically die for a short period of time before being revived. That hasn’t really come up since, but I do hope the writers have thought about how PTSD can affect different people.
PTSD and traumatic brain injuries was a huge part of the second season. The writers brought to light the issues vets face, especially if their medical conditions aren’t properly when they’re in service. Clay took the time to fight for his friend who killed himself during the episode, and hopefully, we’ll see more of this moving forward.
How many episodes?
While it’s not officially confirmed, SEAL Team Season 3 will likely have 22 episodes. This would match the previous two seasons.
The good news is that the show is back to its usual Wednesday 9 p.m. slot. S.W.A.T. Season 3 will follow in the next hour, which suggests there won’t be any movement to the later hour at the midseason. I hope not! The show works at 9 p.m. after Survivor (and The Amazing Race in the midseason). Please, can we not “fix” what isn’t broken?
