Supernatural Season 7, Episode 3 gave us the creature called the kitsune with flashbacks from Sam Winchester. Here’s a look at the five best lines.

In Supernatural Season 7, Episode 3, Sam and Dean faced a kitsune. Well, sort of. Sam mostly faced the kitsune as he learned a monster from his past was back. Here’s a look back at the episode, focusing on my five favorite lines.

Hey look, a monster broke my leg.

We quickly find out that Bobby is alive, and I’m glad the episode didn’t drag that out after the way Supernatural Season 7, Episode 2 ended. That scene gives us this line, as Dean points to the obvious—his broken leg.

One thing I love about this is that it feels like a connection to Supernatural Season 2 when Sam’s wrist is broken by a ghost. The difference here is that Jared Padalecki actually broke his wrist and purposely had to be written in but Dean’s broken leg was just written into the script for fun.

All the coolest people are freaks.

Amy Pond has one of the best lines. If you’re anything like me, you were one of the social outcasts of the school. Okay, you had some friends but you didn’t quite fit in with everyone—and definitely never felt like you did.

The truth is some of the coolest people I’ve ever known in life are considered “freaks.” It also connects to Felicia Day’s slogan, “embrace your weird.”

So you’re supposed to kill me? And I’m supposed to kill you?

It’s Amy Pond for the win again. This line from Supernatural Season 7, Episode 3 connects back to something Sam has always believed. Just because someone is a monster doesn’t mean they’re bad. Sam has helped Dean change his black and white view over the years. This is the moment that it all comes together—the moment we understand why Sam believes things aren’t black and white in the monster world.

Amy doesn’t believe it either. She isn’t going to kill Sam because not all hunters will kill all monsters.

Plain old people taste fine, but everything is better with cheese.

This is just one of those statements that you know is true. If someone offers cheese or extra cheese, you’re going to say yes, right? So, as much as we’re not supposed to like the Leviathans, I can’t help but enjoy the honesty and truth within this line.

I’m not going off. Look, I might be a freak, but that’s not the same as dangerous.

Sam brings up this perfect line at the very end. Dean knows that there’s a risk to Sam going off the rails. Naturally, Dean is worried about Sam’s health, but it all comes back to Sam feeling like a freak. I really felt for Sam in this episode, with the feeling of being different to everyone else in both his youth and now.

However, he also brings up an excellent point—something we all know and we all should remember. Being a freak isn’t anything bad. It doesn’t immediately make someone dangerous, and that was the lesson throughout the episode.
