2. NCIS

When it returns: The crime drama returns on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c on CBS.

Season it’s on: One of the longest-running shows on TV right now, this primetime fall TV series returns for its 17th season.

Why watch it: Let’s get one reason out of the way: Ziva. If you’ve not been watching NCIS since Ziva’s exit, now is the time to check it out. She returned at the end of Season 16 to protect Gibbs, and now we’ll find out exactly why. Cote de Pablo is in at least three episodes of the season starting with its kickoff during the fall TV schedule.

On top of that, there are multiple character stories and all the crimes to solve. Despite being on its 17th season, NCIS just doesn’t get old. The writers continue to surprise with some of the murder mysteries.

1. Law & Order: SVU

When it returns: The record-breaking series returns on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 10/9c on NBC.

Season it’s on: The show is entering its 21st season when it returns next week in the fall TV schedule.

Why watch it: Let’s be honest, there’s one big reason right now to watch this series when it premieres. It’s breaking records for being the longest-running primetime drama. That’s enough to want to even just check out the first episode.

Law & Order: SVU is also real. The storylines are taken from the headlines, bringing real dangers, real victims, and real murderers to life on the screen. Each of the stories are treated with care with fictional elements. After all, this is the “Special Victims Unit.”
