The Season 15 trailer for Supernatural has left us with tons of questions. I’m wondering, who’s the guy in the suit?

If you haven’t seen it yet, the Season 15 trailer for Supernatural has lots to offer. But what would a trailer be if it didn’t also leave us with tons more questions? That’s exactly what’s happening here. And while we did figure out a few things, some of it leaves a lot of room for theories.

One main question we can try to solve is who’s that guy in the suit? We only see him for a quick second, but he looks like he may be a major player. We see our main characters a good bit in the preview, but this is someone we don’t know right off the bat.

More from Supernatural

We also don’t see Jack in the trailer, but Alex Calvert seems to confirm that Jack will be back “in some capacity” during Season 15 of Supernatural. Especially the way things were left at the end of Season 14, Billie definitely has some kind of plan for him.

Now back to this man in the suit, we have a couple of possibilities. As far as I can see, I imagine this probably is someone we know, perhaps in a new form.

But who could it be? We need to look at the clues to get some idea, perhaps. There were a few things to see in the brief moment we glimpsed the mystery man. Not just at the sight of him, but also the two people in the shot with him.

He wears a suit and looks dusty, but who knows what that could mean. The scene is set in a neighborhood so there doesn’t seem much help there, either. But looking at the two people beside him, you’d have to freeze it and zoom in to notice (yes, I did that), but there is a little something. Let’s see!

One idea is the former acting King of Hell, Asmodeus. We know that he was allegedly killed by Gabriel in Season 13. We saw him burn and dissipate into flames and smoke. But is that really a death for a Prince of Hell? I mean, it was like torture to try and get rid of Abaddon and she was only a knight.

When we look at this guy in the trailer, he definitely seems to have power and control. There are two “people” standing at attention as he passes by. This is something we’d expect to see when a commander shows up. Whoever it is, he is in charge of stuff.

The one thing I don’t see clearly is whether or not the guy in the trailer has the notorious scars on his face Asmodeus has. And although he’s wearing a suit with a chain in the pocket and all, it’s not the typical fancy one we’d expect to see on Asmodeus. In fact, the guy looks a bit ratty, like he’s been through, well, Hell.

Yes, Death, not Billie. He has that characteristic saunter we see from this man. He’s wearing the suit with the chain, he has minions. And we know that if Death was to resurface on Supernatural, he’d have business at hand, for sure.

At one time, Death told Dean that he did not appreciate being bound and he wouldn’t let such a thing go if the Winchesters even spawned the idea again. Just imagine how he’d feel about having been reaped? I think he’d be pretty irritated.

But he has always had a soft spot for those boys, so maybe he’d have other plans than simple revenge. In the trailer, there was talk about “if we win this,” and that sounds like a game or deal. Death has done this in the past, bargaining with Dean to restore Sam’s soul and such if he could handle the day with his ring on. Maybe this is entertainment to him as much as to Chuck.

I know, I know, he’s dead. But is he? I mean, what is dead for a primordial being? While Death is one of the four horsemen, he’s bigger in nature than the other three. In fact, he’s also classified as one of he original big five, right along with God.

So, can he die? The horseman called War laughed at the idea of being killed, saying it was impossible. Plus, it’s Supernatural, and plus plus, everybody’s back, right? Personally, I have always assumed that Death would return in his original form as we saw him on Supernatural.

I know Billie said he died and that’s how she became the new Death, but she is his daughter, after all. And she’s not really known for her honesty if you ask me. I’ve long had suspicions about her dealings with the Winchesters and her own hidden agendas. But that’s enough for a whole post, friends.

Yes, this is my favorite idea. I know he has his own look and all, so what would the suit be about? Last time we saw him, he was being put down for a long dirt nap with a ram’s horn. This fella is pretty dusty looking, I’d say. And would Osiris need to have a new body after the stab? I don’t know, do you?

One other thing that led me to this idea was not on the man himself, but on the two with him. The human (maybe) characters stationed at attention as he strolled through have something very distinct about them that could be a giveaway.

Upon close inspection, they each have a touch of black under their eyes. I don’t mean bruises, either, I’m talking about some kind of marking, paint, or a drip of something black. After some thought, I could think of only three things that this could mean, but of course, that doesn’t mean it isn’t something new.

The first thing that comes to mind is Egypt. To me, this looks like what reminds me of the eye of Horus, Ra, or Osiris. That is what gave me the idea of resurrecting the one we’ve seen before. Though in his previous appearance, we didn’t see such a marking on him, and this guy certainly doesn’t seem Egyptian, I suppose one can’t be too sure on Supernatural.

One other possibility is the Leviathan. While their fate is technically classified as unknown, we do know that the only leader they ever knew was killed. According to character facts, they just run around like fools with no direction, plus there have been a handful of mentions of them on Supernatural since the Dick Roman story wrapped up.

In any event, they are basically black goo at heart. This mark on the faces of the minions/guards in the scene could possibly be something like that. But this isn’t my biggest guess, as it doesn’t seem to be oozing from them so much as applied in some way. The male character even seems to have a more created pattern on his than the female does.

Finally, it could have something to do with the Empty. One fun theory I like questions the involvement of the Shadow, who we see smiling at Jack at the end of Season 14. When Jack wakes up there, the Shadow greets him and smiles (and makes the sign of the cross, but we’ll come back to that another time). This black on their faces could be meant as some kind of loyalty mark or sign of rank in an army of followers.

Could they be angels? Demons? Shedim? We will have to wait and see. But they are something and this man seems to be their boss. Because it’s Supernatural, and especially since it seems like everyone’s back now, it really could be anyone or anything. Someone we know returning, or someone new making an epic appearance for the end times. I can’t wait to find out!
