Fear the Walking Dead has a familiar battle brewing. Whether it’s Negan, the Governor, or Alpha, it appears the death spiral is difficult to escape.

We’re at a point where Fear the Walking Dead needs to s#!t or get off the pot. Either there needs to be an all out brawl with Virginia’s group, or the two need to separate by some fortuitous writing (i.e. a broken bridge).

Otherwise, the pervasive doldrums are going to be the end of the show when the fan-base loses interest. Perpetual depression in the zombie apocalypse is much less preferred to blood and guts. It’s time to focus on the actual walking dead. On to the five questions…

Is Virginia’s group really all that bad?

I mean, she wants just what the good Samaritan, tree painting, CB-radio crew wants. Of course, if you don’t agree with her way there is a good chance you get executed. And if you’re not useful to her you get executed. Also, let’s not forget that if you don’t willingly bend over and take her help, she’ll have her lackeys shoot guns into the air to attract zombies…who will likely kill you. But other than that, the same.

Side note: Why didn’t Alicia’s altruists shoot the jeep’s tires out, thereby stranding Virginia with them?

Are Daniel’s Donators done with the Cowpokes?

They said it was the only bridge for miles and miles. Given the bridge is now looking like the one in Road Trip, there likely won’t be any convoys running over it. So will the confrontations cease? Furthermore, why do the cowpokes even care? They have the oil. Why waste time following a group of 20-25?

How stupid was Tom?

Shout out to Tom for stupidly staying on a crumbling suspension bridge with a bad camcorder video and message. I wonder if that will make it more difficult his sister, who is almost certainly a mole, to betray the group? Her return is just waaaay too convenient for the real world, much less a zombie apocalypse.

Why do they never fight as a group?

This is really starting to become irritating. Whenever any of their more lethal members even attempts to attack the zombies, or defend fervently, they kill ten at a time. These are not the Whisperers. These are slow, stumbling, groaning zombies. Rather than reacting like fainting goats at the site of a minor hoard, why not form a semi-circle and start making the grass grow?

The group’s lack of aggression is really starting to be a downer. And it’s seriously affecting the quality of Fear the Walking Dead overall. If the tone of the show continues on this path, there may as well be some sponsorship from drugs like Cymbalta and Zoloft.

Speaking of commercials…

Is the intent of all the handheld action to look like cheesy propaganda? If so, great job. If not, the political ads are far too close to Starship Troopers for a show desperately trying to be serious. It’s time to change the tone.
