Sam, not talking to Dean, takes on his own case. It just so happens to be a case that Dean finds. That’s not all that surprising considering the brothers look out for the same signs of mysteries. The two know they need to work together, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy (and that may also be partially linked to the crime spree their doppelgangers went on in the last episode).
It’s a case of dying psychics. The first was a woman killed with her own crystal ball. The second was a woman stabbed in the neck by her own planchette. One thing that’s the same between the two women is they’re wearing the same necklace.
Off they go to Jimmy Tomorrow, who was gifted all the personal effects of the second victim. Jimmy shares that the jewel in the necklace is the rare Orb of Thesulah. It doesn’t take Sam long to look at the necklace and realize it isn’t cursed and was just made in Taiwan.
The death of another psychic
When there’s another death, Dean gets a call from the second victim’s granddaughter. Melanie heard that Nikolai had a vision of his own death. Now Melanie has heard a voice message that her grandmother left about her own death. Talks of lights flickering and the room getting cold makes the Winchesters think that they’re dealing with a ghost, and they now admit that they’re not FBI agents.
Melanie’s friend then gets a vision, so Dean heads over to help. He sees a hidden camera in the living room, which shows a ghostly woman appear behind Camille, put her hands on her head, and give her a vision. Melanie recognizes the ghost as someone in one of the Museum of Curiosities photographs.
It turns out the woman is in a photo of Kate and Margaret Fox, the founders of the town. Sam goes off to deal with the sisters, Dean gets a message from one of the psychics; someone called Ellen wants Dean to tell someone how bad it is or she’ll “kick his ass from beyond.”
At the cemetery, Dean tries to open up to Sam, but Sam doesn’t really want to talk. Just as one of the ghosts shows up with news, Sam burns her bones and the spirit is gone. It doesn’t fix the problem and Camille is killed in front of Melanie by Margaret Fox.

It turns out Kate was giving people visions of their deaths to warn them, Margaret is the one killing them. As a twist, someone has stolen the bones of Margaret Fox and is making her kill people—someone who didn’t like that the victims were the headliners at the psychic festival.
After a runaround, it turns out that Jimmy is the one who is controlling the spirit. While Dean protects Melanie, Sam takes care of Jimmy. It turns out that Jimmy, like Margaret, is a real psychic angry at those pretending who made names of themselves for their personalities. Sam is able to get to Margaret’s bones to burn them, saving Melanie.
In the end, Sam places his things in the Challenger’s trunk. He thinks they should just take one care and understands why Dean killed Amy. What he didn’t like was that Dean lied to him. It looks like they’re back on track.
