Alisha Wainwright on Raising Dion

Alisha Wainwright’s new series, Raising Dion, is described as an imaginative, family superhero science fiction drama series, and is based on Dennis Liu’s 2015 comic book and short film of the same name.

The story follows Wainwright’s character, Nicole Reese, a widowed mother who is raising her son, Dion. “The normal dramas of raising a son as a single mom are amplified when Dion starts to manifest several magical, superhero-like abilities.” After learning more about his abilities, Nicole is going to have to keep her son’s gifts a secret “with the help of Mark’s best friend Pat, and protect Dion from antagonists out to exploit him while figuring out the origin of his abilities.”

Where, when and how to watch Raising Dion:

Raising Dion launches Oct. 4 on Netflix with all 10 episodes of the series available to stream, but you can go ahead and add the series to “My List” before it airs by going to the show’s title page on Netflix. As you can tell from the trailer below (which gives me chills every time I watch it), Raising Dion Season 1 is going to be an emotional, mysterious, and powerful journey both for the Reese family and for the audience.
