Imagine if your perfect life began to crumble, and it wasn’t even your fault. That’s what Kathy faces in LMN’s A Working Mom’s Nightmare.

Lifetime Movie Network begins its upcoming 25 new movies with Shocktober! New thrillers are airing every Thursday and Friday this month. We start with A Working Mom’s NIghtmare based on Jane Lythell’s novel, The Lie Of You: I Will Have What Is Mine. Lydia Wilson, Tuppence Middleton, and Rupert Graves star.

Kathy is attempting to get her groove back at her high-profile COO job after having a baby. But she finds that her replacement has done a better job than she was hoping and her boss wants to keep her on board. It doesn’t take long for Kathy to realize this “Hannah” is much more than meets the eye. She has everyone fooled, but her.

3. Surprisingly, no one is having an affair.

While watching A Working Mom’s Nightmare, it wouldn’t be hard for you to conclude that Mark is having an affair. You might even assume that Kathy is having one too. Everyone acts pretty shadily.

They also have a nanny, and nannies are always duplicitous in Lifetime movies, except this one. Fran is a cute young woman. Mark certainly has the hots for her, as demonstrated through the camera’s thorough raking of her body early on, but it’s all just a red herring to make Mark look extra sketchy.

It appears that he is having an affair only because he’s coming home late, taking weird phone calls, and going on sudden business trips. It turns out, he’s been obsessively trying to find his stalker ex-girlfriend Susan before she can harm him and his family. Unbeknownst to Mark, Susan is much closer to home than he could have anticipated.

Kathy is also spending lots of time with her charming ex-boyfriend (who is way more likable than her current husband, she messed up by letting Eddie go). But that is also a red herring, I guess? His purpose in the film is somewhat inconsequential.

2. Hannah is actually Susan.

Well, we knew from the beginning that Hannah wasn’t be trusted. She sabotages Kathy’s meetings, pushes Aisha down the stairs, and continually stalks Kathy and Mark.

The body count for this movie is pretty low, aside from the poor dog, Max. That might have been one of the saddest moments I’ve seen in a Lifetime movie in a while, and it wasn’t even Hannah’s fault, or was it?

Once we find out that Mark isn’t a cheater and has just been trying to find his crazy ex, it’s just a short jump to figuring out “Hannah” is Susan. When Susan realizes she will have to come face-to-face with Mark soon, and her cover will be blown, she quits her job and turns the Fatal Attraction vibes up to a full 10.

1. Susan and Kathy fight to the death.

As most Lifetime movies usually end, Susan and Kathy eventually come to blows. I will give A Working Mom’s Nightmare credit, though. They took some turns with the scenery and the script I wasn’t anticipating. The acting also wasn’t bad at all. Susan and Kathy duke it out in a creepy warehouse with the plastic tarp hanging down.

Susan ultimately kidnaps baby Billy, as we all knew she would eventually, and Eddie, Mark, and Kathy all wind up drawn into her little trap. Kathy finally gets the upper hand and suffocates Susan with plastic. Ding dong, the witch is dead. (I think?)
