3. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

Original Release Date: July 22, 2011

Box Office Earnings: Captain America: The First Avenger made $370.6 million worldwide. It wasn’t the highest-grossing Marvel film but it still earned a ton of money for an early film and the first of the Captain America trilogy.

Critical Acclaim: The movie was well-received by critics. Chris Evans received lots of praise for portraying Steve Rogers. Prior to this movie, Evans hadn’t been in many successful movies and this proved to be a swift upturn in his career.

About the Role: We are introduced to Bucky Barnes before HYDRA got his hands on him. Sebastian gets to play a happy-go-lucky version of Bucky who is best friends with Steve and quite the ladies man.

Simply the Best: After this film, all other versions of Bucky we see are overcome with his terrible circumstances after being brainwashed for years by HYDRA. It’s nice to see him get to play a happier version of Bucky in this film and understand the foundation of Steve and Bucky’s friendship since it becomes so important to both characters.

The movie does a great job of establishing just how important these two are to one another and the lengths they will go to keep each other safe.
