In the latest episode of Riverdale Season 4, the gang starts senior year as Jughead goes to prep school and Cheryl tangles with the new principal.

After taking a moment at the start of the season to honor Luke Perry, Riverdale goes back to school in Season 4, Episode 2 for the kickoff for the gang’s senior year — and we all know what we’re headed toward. Since the series seems to be taking a beat from serial murderers and horrifying monsters and going back to basics, the latest episode just might feel most like a teen drama than Riverdale ever has, complete with football and petty feuds.

Picking up the pieces after his father’s death, Archie tries to convince his good friend Mad Dog, who works and trains with him at the boxing gym, to attend Riverdale High and join the football team. He’ll need a new partner in crime since Jughead’s off to a new prep school.

Meanwhile, Kevin buries the hatchet with Betty by joining the Blue & Gold, Veronica doesn’t know how to feel when information about Hiram leaks, and Cheryl shows the new principal who’s boss.

Jughead (Cole Sprouse) meets Mr. Chipping (guest star Sam Witwer), who offers him a spot at an elite school called Stonewall Prep. Veronica (Camila Mendes) is conflicted when information about her involvement in Hiram’s (Mark Consuelos) arrest leaks to the public. Kevin (Casey Cott) applies for a spot on the Blue & Gold to make amends with Betty (Lili Reinhart).
