1. The Addams Family
The last film to make my list is one that came out recently in theaters, and that’s the 2019 version of the Addams Family. Of course, you can always go back to the 1990’s version, too, as it still holds up. Nevertheless, the rebooted version of the film focuses less on the macabre and more on the family aspect of these beloved characters, which is good if you want something that isn’t so spooky.
The Addams Family starts with an introduction to our favorite couple before a time-jump to the present in which the family is preparing for Pugsley’s Mazurka and Wednesday’s sudden personality shift. Everything comes to a head when they find out their new neighbor sees them as different and thus something to be changed. This film is obviously very kid-friendly as it doesn’t even cross a PG rating with its scenes, besides a few violent moments.
Overall, The Addams Family is a great film if you’re looking for a non-spooky option for this Halloween. The casting for the film was spot-on so that’s something to look forward to. The focus on family and acceptance of others is a great message for kids and one that some adults need to be reminded of. While it might not be what fans of the original were hoping for, it’s still a fun one.
The Addams Family is currently out in theaters.
Will you be watching any of these non-spooky movies for Halloween this year? Are there any movies that I missed or you would add to the list? Be sure to let us know in the comments!
