All eyes are going to be on Buck’s next move. We last saw him let Bobby know in person that he’s suing the city and Bobby personally for wrongful termination. It’s not going to be an easy few weeks as we watch this storyline play out, whether Buck goes all the way with it or drops it along the way.

Bobby is clearly trying to remain civil. The fire chief wants a word with Buck, but the way Bobby mentions it makes it sound like Buck is about to get an earful.

Meanwhile, there’s a glimpse at a few of the calls for the night. One of those involves activists trying to save some ducks. However, they get themselves caught in the machines and the 118 will be called in to help save them. I get peaceful protests and fully support that right, but can activists please stop putting themselves in danger!

Then there’s a woman who tells Maddie that her “best friend is trying to kill her.” I get the feeling this is the wife and mistress storyline. Which one is trying to kill the other?

It also sounds like there is going to be a race-related traffic stop. The synopsis tells us that Athena is going to go into action when Michael goes through a traffic stop with his kids and it’s described as “traumatic.” 9-1-1 hasn’t done a race-related traffic stop with the main characters yet, but it’s a topic that needs to be covered in a TV show. 9-1-1 also isn’t known for its stereotypical race-related storylines, so I’m intrigued at Ryan Murphy’s telling of this one.

Here’s a look at the promo and synopsis for 9-1-1 Season 3, Episode 5:

"The 118 races to help protesters at a slaughter house and a wife who finds herself trapped in a “rage room” with her husband’s mistress; Athena takes action after Michael, May and Harry experience a traumatic traffic stop."
