Superstore practices a little self-care, which sends Cloud 9 into chaos when Amy’s power nap leaves the store unattended during an inspection.

You’ve heard of self-care Sunday, but now it’s time for self-care Superstore. When Amy becomes overworked and under-slept in preparation for a major inspection at the store, Jonah and Cheyenne force her to take a step back and take care of herself. But that’s easier said than done for Amy, whose watchful eye keeps Cloud 9 from burning down on a daily basis.

While Amy snoozes off the stress, Mateo lands a new job in the store’s vision center, but he finds his new boss’ idea of side work exploitative and troubling. Elsewhere, Garrett’s insecurity about his chin takes drastic measures, and Glenn’s health scare puts Dina in the driver’s seat of his diet and exercise regimen. Let’s practice some self-care with the five best jokes from the latest episode of Superstore.

1. “My butt tingles when I sit for too long.”

During the morning meeting, Amy briefs the employees on the upcoming health and safety inspection. Ironically, Glenn writes off a minor health setback, and Cheyenne chimes in with the side effects of prolonged sitting. However, Glenn collapses in the middle of the meeting, leading to his Type 2 diabetes diagnosis. He celebrates that he’s no longer pre-diabetic, but Dina’s up in arms with his doctor’s recommendation of lifestyle “tweaks.” She feeds Glenn kale salad, and when he presumes her reaction has something to do with her absent father, she tricks him into teaching her how to ride a bike… an exercise bike.

2. “Probably like Dolly Parton and her husband, who live under the same roof but never speak.”

Mateo decides to interview for a new job in the store’s vision center, but when he lands the job, he doesn’t get anything quite near what he anticipated. Dan understands Mateo’s situation, but he uses Mateo’s undocumented status against him to snag a makeover and tell his wife that her salmon is dry. Even though it doesn’t seem like Dan had malicious intent, the exploitation of Mateo’s immigration status felt strange and mostly unfunny. Mateo deserves a story better than this. Let’s hope he and Dan settle into that Dolly Parton dynamic.

3. “You dress like a kid in a cereal commercial.”

In the midst of Mateo’s new position as the vision center assistant/Dan’s unofficial fashion consultant, he makes a remark about Garrett’s sense of style, specifically his beard. The theory is that men with beards are making up for their lack of beard. Mateo’s comment plants the seed of self doubt in Garrett, and it’s later harvested by an even more unfiltered jab from Dina. To prove he has a chin, Garrett shaves his beard. Long story short, his chin isn’t the problem, but Jonah will be covering for him while it grows back.

4. “You guys, I found another butthole… It’s Amy.”

Jonah and Cheyenne insist that Amy take a nap when her sleeplessness causes her to call for a St. Patrick’s Day display instead of Halloween. They prep a “nap zone” (or “nap trap”) for her to take a 15-minute power nap, but Jonah lets her sleep for four hours. Naturally, an offensive hot sauce display goes up, the staff finds out she’s sleeping on the job, and the health and safety inspection has inadvertently been moved up to now. With the staff on self-care strike, she’s doomed to fail.

Next. There’s a Clueless reboot in the works, and I’m officially boycotting reboots. dark

5. “We passed? Did you see all the raccoons?”

The staff members set up self-care shop in every department. Some are meditating with candles, some are lounging with face masks, others are giving themselves pedicures in the cafe. To help clean up this mess, Jonah and Cheyenne race around the store on Amy’s word via walkie-talkie to clear out each department before the inspection. But no one could have expected the problematic hot sauce display to have caught fire. Miraculously, they pass by five points,
