10. Accepted (2006)

Original Release Date: August 18, 2006

Box Office Earnings: Accepted failed to top the box office but it still managed to make back its budget and then some tapping out at around $38.5 million.

Critical Acclaim: Accepted would appeal to people who enjoy Seth Rogen movies. It wound up getting a rotten score from Rotten Tomatoes but audiences enjoyed the slapstick comedy and related to some aspects of the film, even if the plot is pretty unbelievable.

About the Role: Blake Lively plays Monica, a photography student and love interest to Justin Long’s character. At the film’s beginning, she is dating the stereotypical fraternity jerk who is one of the movie’s primary antagonists.

Simply the Best: While Accepted isn’t a work of art by any means, it’s still a fun movie. I remember seeing it in theaters when I was in middle school and becoming obsessed with it for a little while because of how much I enjoyed watching it with my friends.

Lively’s character, Monica, doesn’t get a lot of humor, unfortunately, but Blake instills her part with a surprising amount of genuine warmth and commitment. Plus, she and Justin Long shared a great deal of chemistry and it’s sweet to watch their relationship develop.
