8. Savages (2012)
Original Release Date: July 6, 2012
Box Office Earnings: Savages performed moderately alright at the box office. It came in just shy of doubling its budget at $83 million.
Critical Acclaim: Critics were mixed on Savages. Most agreed that the film feels messy but praised Oliver Stone’s directorial choices and the acting performances.
Even when the plot feels a little senseless, the actors were able to keep things grounded and the glossy sheen of the film made it something intriguing to watch.
About the Role: In this movie, Blake Lively plays O, short for Ophelia. She is in love with the two men in her life, Chon and Ben. The three live together in something akin to a polyamorous relationship. Poor O is a broken soul who spends the majority of the film with her life in jeopardy.
Simply the Best: Again, Lively’s performance was praised in this movie for the sweet sincerity she played O with coupled with how she got through the darker moments of the film.
O’s character is kidnapped early on and used as a pawn to get to Chon and Ben. Considering how much they love her, both are determined to do whatever it takes to save O’s life.
