7. Hick (2012)

Original Release Date: May 11, 2012

Box Office Earnings: Hick did not receive a theatrical release.

Critical Acclaim: Hick received very negative reviews from critics. Altogether, the movie only managed to rank a 5% approval score. Although, to be fair, it was also only reviewed by 22 critics in total. It fared a little better with audiences whose approval is 36%.

About the Role: Blake plays a drifter named Glenda. Her character bonds with Chloe Grace Moretz’s character, Luli. The two form a partnership of sorts as they try to escape their respective troubles.

Simply the Best: Even though Hick isn’t the best movie, Lively got to play a very different character than what she was known for. One of the great things about Lively’s film resume is how varied her roles are. I mentioned this before but she doesn’t stick to just one type of character or performance, it’s clear she likes to challenge herself.

The role of Glenda gave her the opportunity to do just that and it becomes evident while watching this movie how versatile an actress she truly is. The relationship between her character and Moretz’s character is the centerpiece of the movie and it’s very compelling to watch even if the film itself isn’t amazing.
