Each episode focuses on a part of the taco. Because, as any taco fan knows, there’s a lot that goes into putting together the most delicious taco. In NY, Rayo and Neece visit Nixtamal Tortilleria in Queens and local chef Gustavo Rodriguez of Casa Publica. This episode centers on corn tortillas. Sure, it’s all about the meat and if it’s cooked to your liking, but many are quick to dismiss the quality of the tortilla, and that’s a huge no-no.

Viewers will get a lesson on how to make tortillas, but, having watched the episode, I can say there’s a deeper, more nostalgic feel to these particular scenes. Specifically if you are hispanic and grew up watching your mother or grandmother making handmade tortillas, you’ll almost smell the tortilla dough through the screen!

You’ll also find yourself nodding along to tips such as, “use a plastic grocery bag so the dough doesn’t stick.” Yup, I remember that one! Whether you cook or not, you’ll definitely want to create some tacos after this segment.
