Emergence saw a healthy uptick in the Tuesday TV ratings. The same couldn’t be said for The Flash, Arrow, and more. Here’s a look at the details.
Thanks to The Wonderful World of Disney Presents The Little Mermaid Live!, Emergence had a good night in the Tuesday TV ratings. Sadly, the rest of the networks didn’t see the same, with The Flash and Arrow seeing big losses and everything else down.
ABC’s decision for the special to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Little Mermaid from Disney wasn’t a bad idea. It pulled in 8.98 million views, topping The Voice on NBC. The demo was also the strongest of the entire night, at 2.6.

- Thursday TV ratings: Grey’s Anatomy up, Walker Independence down
- Wednesday TV ratings: One Chicago mixed, Kung Fu down (November 9)
- Tuesday TV ratings: The Resident and Monarch down (November 8)
- Monday TV ratings: All American down, Quantum Leap up (Nov. 7)
- Weekend live TV ratings: Fire Country and FBI mixed
That success continued into the 10 p.m. slot, with Emergence seeing updates by 33% and 34% in the total audience and demo respectively. Will the same people tune back in next week or is this just a one-off?
With ABC having a strong night, it shouldn’t be that surprising to hear the rest of the networks struggled somewhat. NBC had the best night out of the other four, with The Voice ticking up in both metrics. Out of the regular programming, The Voice also scored the strongest demo at 1.3.
However, the upward tick wouldn’t last forThis Is Us or New Amsterdam, with the demos slipping by 7% and 11% respectively and the audience slipping by almost 1% and 3% respectively. New Amsterdam was a relatively slow burn episode, but it looks like we’re going to be moving into an episode for Max to deal with his grief in the next episode.
The Kasie-centric episode of NCIS did win the night in the total audience, with 10.74 million, but that was down 5% from the previous episode. The demo was also down by almost 10%. That trend continued through FBI and into the shocking NCIS: New Orleans episode in the total audience. NCIS: NOLA did see a 3% uptick in the demo, though, and all CBS shows won their timeslots in the audience.
The CW had the worst night of the lot. The Flash lost 23% of its demo and 18% of its total audience. Is this due to the ABC special or a sign that the top superhero show is losing viewers? Arrow also lost 25% of its demo and 18% of its total audience, which is disappointing for the final season.
