The Winchester brothers are heading off on a monster-of-the-week case this week, but they also get meaningful in this Supernatural Season 15, Episode 4 clip.

Sam Winchester knew that he had to kill Rowena. It was prophecized that she would die by his hand, and we knew that she needed to sacrifice herself to save the world. However, that doesn’t mean he’s okay with it, and that’s something the sneak peek for Supernatural Season 15, Episode 4 shows us.

While the episode will mostly be a monster-of-the-week case, we get to see a sweet brotherly moment. Despite everything that is going on, Dean is still looking out for his brother. Realizing that Sam isn’t sleeping or eating or really looking after himself, Dean decides to offer something: vegan bacon. Yep! He actually gets something that he usually pokes fun at Sam for, showing just how much he’s worried about his little brother.

You can see in the clip that Sam isn’t coping. While we’ve seen him worse, this is just the potential start of a dangerous downward spiral. It’s no wonder that Dean is worried.

Just because Rowena had to sacrifice herself to save the world doesn’t mean that it’s right or that it’s going to be easy for them. Sam can tell himself all day that he had to do what he did, but we all know that it’s eating him up inside. At least the series will continue to show that spiral. The question is will the show be brave enough to fully show the downward spiral because usually the show chickens out and suddenly makes everything okay.

Something to remember is that this season picked up off the back of the Season 14 finale. There hasn’t been a break, so this scene picks up just days or weeks after Mary Winchester’s and Jack’s deaths. The brothers were already grieving and struggling, especially knowing that free will wasn’t real after all. Now they’ve got to grieve for more lost friends, with Kevin wandering the Earth as a ghost and Rowena and Ketch both killed.

This is going to be one emotional ride for all.
