Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star (2003)
Child star Dickie Roberts (David Spade) was at the top of his game while starring in a Hollywood sitcom. The future looked promising for young Dickie, but life never turned out the way he had hoped.
Now middle-aged, unpopular, and deemed a failure, Roberts is just trying to get his foot back in the door in terms of a Hollywood gig. While he awaits his big break (again), he is forced to live life parking cars for a restaurant. After getting the inside scoop on a potentially new Rob Reiner film, Roberts pulls out all the strings to get a meeting with the accomplished filmmaker and convince him for a chance to star in the movie.
After Reiner points out that his film is about the life of a normal person and that Dickie has no clue about that lifestyle, the desperate protagonist hatches a plan to live a “normal” childhood by hiring a family who he can live with. As absurd as that plan sounds, Roberts is willing to do whatever it takes to convince Rob Reiner he has got this.
His new “family,” consisting of father George (Craig Bierko), mother Grace (Mary McCormack), brother Sam (Scott Terra), and sister Sally (Jenna Boyd) provides the perfect avenue for Roberts to live life as a suburban kid.
Embark on this hilarious journey with Dickie Roberts as he decides to live two different childhoods in his life, albeit with vastly different results!
