A dip for the first monster-of-the-week episode of the season isn’t all that surprising. Fans will tune in for the episodes with a main storyline that continues because they need to know how the storyline concludes. When it’s clear the next episode is going to be its own storyline, viewers may choose to wait to watch online.

Also, this was the first episode back after a week off. Taking Halloween off surprised many fans, especially when a show like Supernatural sees Halloween every week. There may have been some confusion about whether the show was back. Sport can also play a part in Thursday ratings being up and down. Some affiliate networks will choose to air their local teams instead of regular programming.

For Season 15, Episode 4, the ratings hit a season-low. Falling almost 10%, the live viewer ratings dropped to 1.123 million. Considering most CW shows are pulling in ratings less than a million, this is still good. The key demo dropped 6% to 0.3, which is still above average for the network.

The series remains in third place among all CW shows. It’s still good for the last season of the series.
