Thursday TV ratings: Grey’s Anatomy up, Carol’s Second Act down
Grey’s Anatomy, Legacies, and more ticked up in the Thursday TV ratings for Nov. 14. However, Carol’s Second Act and Will & Grace were down. Here’s a look.
While the Browns faced the Steelers at home, Grey’s Anatomy aired its 350th episode. For the most part, ABC, The CW, and NBC had a good night. Here’s a look at the full Thursday TV ratings for Nov. 14.
It’s not surprising that FOX’s Thursday Night Football won the night in both demo and total audience. 11.65 million people tuned in for the game, with a 3.3 demo rating. But how did the scripted shows fare?
More from Ratings
- Thursday TV ratings: Grey’s Anatomy up, Walker Independence down
- Wednesday TV ratings: One Chicago mixed, Kung Fu down (November 9)
- Tuesday TV ratings: The Resident and Monarch down (November 8)
- Monday TV ratings: All American down, Quantum Leap up (Nov. 7)
- Weekend live TV ratings: Fire Country and FBI mixed
Greys Anatomy‘s 350th episode remained steady in the demo, holding onto being the top-rated show of the night. It didn’t quite become the highest-viewed, but the total audience was up 2%.
Young Sheldon would take the honor of being the most-viewed show, with almost nine million viewers. The demo, at 1.2, was up 9% and made it the highest-rated comedy of the night.
In fact, the entire 8 p.m. timeslot was positive. Superstore and Supernatural were steady in their demos, while the former was up 4% and the latter up almost 20% in the total audience.
This is where things start to go downhill for some networks. CBS and NBC both saw downward ticks for their freshman comedies, The Unicorn and Perfect Harmony. The NBC comedy is the one most in danger, as it’s 20% deop in the demo took it to a 0.4 rating.
While the 9 p.m. slot was better for both networks, Carol’s Second Act and Will & Grace were also both down. The latter doesn’t matter much since it’s the final season. It’s Carol’s Second Act were’ concerned about, which was the lowest-viewed and lowest-rated comedy on CBS last night.
Things weren’t all that positive for the competitive 10 p.m. timeslot for CBS, either. While NBC pulled in a 16% rise in the demo and 4% rise in the total audience for Law & Order: SVU and ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder demo was up 25% and total audience was up 5%, EVIL was down 6% in the total audience. It was the lowest-viewed show on CBS that night. The demo was steady, but at a low 0.5 rating.
Of course, there’s nothing to worry about when it comes to EVIL. The show has already been renewed for a second season.
Meanwhile, How to Get Away with Murder and Grey’s Anatomy weren’t the only positives for ABC. Nor was Supernatural the solo positive for The CW. A Million Little Things was steady in the demo and up 3% in the total audience. Legacies was up 50% in the demo and 12% in the total audience. I don’t think there’s much to fear about these two shows next season.
I do have a feeling that Legacies may move forward to the 8 p.m. timeslot next season. It could be used as a lead-in for new shows on the network. The CW will want to see how Katy Keene does in the 8 p.m. timeslot first.
