Supernatural Season 7, Episode 12 took Dean to the past to work with one of his idols. Here are my five favorite lines from the episode.

Supernatural Season 7, Episode 12 took Dean back to the past. This time he got to meet one of his idols, and the show had a chance to turn one of the greatest American FBI agents into a hunter. Of course, “Time After Time After Time” came with some excellent lines, and it’s time to delve into my five favorite.

What, you going to look at more anime or are you strictly into Dick now?

More from Supernatural

Sam has one of the most memorable lines from the whole of the seventh season. Dean is obsessed with finding Dick Roman. It makes sense considering everything that is going on, but that doesn’t stop Sam from being concerned. He hides it with humor.

At one point, Sam brings up Dean’s love of anime porn. That’s when this line comes up. So, which is Dean interested in the most?

Boo hoo, cry me a river, ya nancy! Tell me, are all hunters as soft as you in the future?

I do love Eliot Ness’ mentality to hunting. It wasn’t a death that pulled him into it. Instead, he chose to help people. While Dean was pulled in because of family, he chose to remain in the business because of his love for helping people. Even in Supernatural Season 15, he proved he loves helping people.

However, I love Eliot’s line here. He is so much like Bobby and it’s exactly what we need in the episode.

So enjoy it while it lasts, kid, ’cause hunting’s the only clarity you’re gonna find in this life. And that makes you luckier than most.

After calling Dean a Nancy, Eliot goes on to explain what Dean should be thankful for. While there are plenty of people who have died, there are a lot of people out there who have survived because of the Winchesters. Hunters do good by being around, and they have to focus on that.

But at the same time, Eliot knows that it isn’t going to last. There’s a lot of rough in the world. Again, Eliot is a little like Bobby when it comes to advice and I wish we could have him in the show again.

Back to the Future III! I need to borrow some paper.

There are a lot of movie references throughout this episode, and that makes sense. Dean can’t help but make Untouchables references. However, this moment shows how much he learns from movies. He’s not the most imaginative person alone, but he can adapt a movie storyline.

In this case, he uses Back to the Future III to his advantage. We know immediately what he’s going to do as soon as he says it.

You want to know your future? I know your future. It’s covered in thick black ooze. It’s everywhere. They’re everywhere. Enjoy oblivion.

Finally, Chronos takes the line. In an episode that is a monster-of-the-week setup, the writers manage to properly connect it all back to the main storyline. Chronos knows what the future looks like, and it’s not good.

I do often wonder whether Chronos was actually trying to help in his own way some times. Could he have offered help to stop the Leviathans had the Winchesters not decided to kill him?
