Searching for a great movie to watch over Thanksgiving weekend? Netflix is the perfect place to find one! Here are five movies you can stream this holiday season.
October officially keeps in the holiday season because once Halloween comes around, time speeds up so fast that we lose track of our shopping days. After Oct. 31, it’s Thanksgiving before we know it! And then, Christmas. Well, if that’s what you celebrate. Knowing this, the five movies we are recommending below are all fun and lighthearted Christmas movies to get you all prepped up for the big day!
Thanksgiving can also be such a stressful time! The family reunions, cooking, keeping up conversations, you name it! It’s simply too much. Not to mention, if you have family over this Thanksgiving weekend, you’ll need something to play in the background to keep everyone busy. Isn’t it better for everyone to feel jolly than bickering over who is mom and dad’s favorite? I think so!
Here are 5 good Netflix movies to watch over Thanksgiving weekend:
The Christmas Chronicles: This Netflix film is fairly new and easily missed due to the streaming giant’s heavy selection. The Christmas Chronicles premiered on the service and stars Kurt Russell as Santa Claus. The story follows Kate and Teddy Pierce, a brother and sister who plan to catch Santa when he comes down the chimney on Christmas Eve in order to prove that he exists. Their rusty scheme doesn’t go according to plan, and now the race is on to save Christmas as the clock ticks.

- Exploding Kittens: From card game to Netflix animated series starring Tom Ellis
- The Crown and more Netflix shows and movies to stream this week (November 13)
- Escaping Twin Flames and more harrowing love-centered documentaries to watch on Netflix
The Knight Before Christmas: Calling all hopeless romantics in the family! If cheesy romantic movies are your thing and you’re a fan of Vanessa Hudgens, The Knight Before Christmas is the movie to watch over Thanksgiving weekend. Hey, we’re not here to judge your guilty pleasures!
Hudgens’ latest sees Hudgens star as a high school teacher who bumps into a medieval knight who has been transported from the past into present time. She believes the “knight” is mentally ill, but grows to believe him. But does this Christmas knight want to return home or has he found love? Hallmark movies, eat your heart out!
How the Grinch Stole Christmas: This is a classic! Who doesn’t love to watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas every year? The thing to love most about the Grinch, is that there are so many versions of this movie, from the original to the animated version starring the voice of Benedict Cumberbatch. But you gotta especially love Jim Carrey’s take.

Christmas Break-In: Did you watch the trailer above for Christmas Break-In and get serious Home Alone vibes? Yup. We did, too. The concept is very similar and it’s obvious that this movie does copy a few scenarios (and even several lines from the original movies), but that shouldn’t make it any less fun. If there are going to be kids around the house this Thanksgiving break, put on Christmas Break-In!
Christmas Inheritance: Before heiress Ellen Langford takes over her father’s business, he wants her to discover the spirit of Christmas and what it’s all about. To help Ellen, her father has her deliver a letter to his former partner who now lives in Snow Falls. No one there knows who Ellen Langford is, and she is loving it! Is the gift of Christmas in Snow Falls? If you have bickering relatives that need to open up their hearts a bit, Christmas Inheritance is a great movie.
