Grey’s Anatomy Season 16 aired its fall finale on Nov. 21 and we’re left with one shocker of a cliffhanger. When will we get answers to questions in 2020?

As with any fall finale, Grey’s Anatomy Season 16 has left us with a major cliffhanger. Lives are in the balance, jobs are on the line, and there’s a baby in the Karevs home. Okay, so we have lots of questions, right? When will we get answers to those questions? When will Grey’s Anatomy Season 16 return in 2020?

We’ve got a two-month wait on our hands, and there is a catch to that two-month wait. Grey’s Anatomy will return on Jan. 23, 2020, but it will be at the later time of 9/8c. And you won’t get all the answers in this hour. You’ll need to tune into another show an hour earlier to start getting some answers.

More from ABC

Station 19 returns on the same day in the first TGIT timeslot. This and its parent show will have a two-hour crossover event, which you should have seen coming considering there was plenty in the way of crossover happening during the fall finale. Just look at the number of firefighters who turned up!

And considering a car just went into the bar (is it still Joe’s bar?) it’s not surprising that Station 19 will air the first hour of the storyline. After all, this is the type of situation that would require firefighters. If this was the One Chicago series, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Chicago Fire kick-off events.

Once everyone is out of the bar, it will then be time to work on the injuries. That will be what Grey’s Anatomy‘s midseason premiere will be about.

So strap in and get ready for a wild ride in January 2020. Check out the promo to tide you over:
