Supernatural Season 15, Episode 7 sees Sam and Dean on separate hunts. Here are the five biggest takeaways from the promo for the week.

The brothers are on separate hunts in Supernatural Season 15, Episode 7. While the show is taking a week off for Thanksgiving, the promo for the episode is already out. It’s time to look at the biggest takeaways.

Titled “Last Call,” it looks like a lot of the episode is going to be set in a bar. Although, it’s worth pointing out that the promo is only focused on Dean’s storyline. We have little idea of what Sam is up to with Castiel.

Like all the previous times we’ve broken down these promos, let’s take a look at the promo and synopsis first. After that, we’ll get into what could be spoilery material for some of you.

"CLOSING TIME – Dean (Jensen Ackles) goes off on his own to take on a case. Meanwhile, Castiel (Misha Collins) has an idea of how he can help Sam (Jared Padalecki) track down God."

There isn’t too much to go on in the promo for the post-Thanksgiving episode. That doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun speculating. Here’s a look at my top five takeaways.

5. A case like old times

More from Supernatural

This episode has a feel of the older episodes, and I’m talking Seasons 1 to 3. The case involves a bar, one of Dean’s favorite places. He finds the case by looking through the news, there’s a woman flirting with him, and he runs into an old friend. Will it end the way of old cases with hunter friend dying, being set up by the woman, and having a standard type of monster that’s not always so easy to kill?

4. Dean’s trying to get back in the game

Dean is sort of trying to get back in the game. At the end of the last episode, Sam made it clear that he wants to take down God but he can’t do it alone. Dean doesn’t seem ready to take on God, which is probably why Sam has joined Castiel on the search. However, Dean does look like he’s ready to do more than just eat cereal in his room.

3. Christian Kane guest stars

We knew the Angel alum was going to guest star in an episode and now we’ve got it. Kane’s character is an old friend of Dean’s, and I speculated that just mentioning Dean meant that it was likely from a time of hunting pre-Sam. Well, Sam won’t get to meet this hunter either, by the looks of things.

Kane’s character is shocked to see Dean turn up at the bar. Is that because he didn’t think Dean would find the case or because he didn’t realize there is a case?

2. Trust nobody

This is one of those episodes where you go in trusting nobody. Maybe we can trust Christian Kane’s character, but the girl in the bad definitely not. While Dean is certainly a ladies’ man, have you ever noticed that the ones that come onto him in a bar are usually some sort of demon or monster? What’s the betting that will happen again?

1. A nod to Patrick Swayze

While rewatching old episodes of Supernatural, I got the reminder that Dean loves Patrick Swayze. He will watch anything that had the actor in it, including Ghost. And there’s nothing girly about any of Swayze’s movies.

It’s been a while since we’ve had any sort of nod to that. It changes during this episode. If you look as someone is being thrown out of the window, the bar is called “Swayze’s Bar.” It’s just a small nod, but it’s a nod. I just hope it gets a proper mention in the episode.
