#1 – Meredith’s redemption
Let’s be honest – Meredith facing the medical board was a long time coming. Heck, a number of the Grey Sloan docs probably should’ve been in that position many times by now. The historic 350th episode put an end to Meredith’s time away from the hospital when her colleagues and former patients came together to prove to the medical board why Dr. Grey should be allowed to continue saving lives, even if she makes questionable calls from time to time.
Many fans have claimed it was the best episode of the season thus far, and I couldn’t agree more. It truly felt like “classic Grey’s” with the doctors all coming together despite their differences, Derek’s former doctor being involved (and abruptly dying), Cristina Yang having a presence in the story, and, of course, a Sleeping With Sirens cover of “Where Does The Good Go” while Bailey defended Mer after everything that’s gone down between them.
Having the odds stacked against her in so many ways provided a very satisfying conclusion, even though the eight-episode period of Meredith doing community service wasn’t all that inspiring at first. Her time away from the O.R. did provide us with more Zola time, which in turn led to more memories of Derek. It’s hard to believe this is the sixth season without him.
Clearly Meredith has some figuring out to do when it comes to her love life with DeLuca and now the introduction of Dr. Hayes. Who knows where she will be by the conclusion of Season 16.
