Have you ever felt the pressure to marry from a parent? If so, this movie might hit close to home.
What’s it about: Hillary Burns (Bonnie Somerville) has struggled in both her real life and her love life. Add in the fact that her mother, Meredith (Shelley Long), continuously pressures her daughter to marry and Hillary is in a tough situation. However, luck begins to go in Hillary’s favor when she meets her fiancé and promises to introduce him to her family over the four-day Thanksgiving weekend.
However, luck runs out when he breaks up with Hillary. Not wanting to disappoint her family, Hillary hires an out-of-work actor named David (Jordan Bridges) to pose as her fiancé. Although it’s strictly business, in the beginning, Hillary begins to truly fall for David. Will the fake engagement turn into the real thing?
Why you should stream Holiday Engagement: As I stated in the beginning, how many of you have felt pressure to get married from your parents? Even if you’ve never been married, overbearing families interrupting your love life is all too relatable so this film could be your story in a few years!
