Van Helsing Season 5: SYFY renews vampire series for final season
SYFY has made a decision on its vampire series, Van Helsing. The end is nigh, but not until next year. Van Helsing Season 5 is officially the last.
We’ve worried about the fate of Van Helsing for the last two seasons now. Each time, SYFY has come through with a renewal. Van Helsing Season 5 is officially happening, but there is some bad news that comes with it. This will be the final season.
Deadline shares that the fifth and final season will premiere in 2020. Production starts early next year, and it sounds like the idea is to make sure the vampire series gets a fall 2020 date. That would suit the previous premiere dates for the show. Chances are the show will keep its Friday night slot.

While it is sad news to hear that it’s the final season, there’s also a silver lining to this. SYFY does have a habit of just canceling shows outright. We just have to look at The Expanse, Happy! and Deadly Class. All were canceled without warning, leaving some major questions for the future episodes.
At least Van Helsing fans know that there will be a wrap-up to the storyline. And there needs to be one for something like this. It has been carefully crafted by the writers, who deserve the chance to see it to the end.
For those who haven’t watched the series yet, episodes are available on Netflix, and it’s highly worthwhile. The vampire series is based on the Dracula tales, following Van Helsing’s descendent, who happens to be a woman in charge of taking down the vampires.
The Van Helsing Season 4 finale will air on Dec. 20.
