Are you ready for the end of an era? The Skywalker saga comes to an end in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, now playing in theaters.

As C-3PO stated in the final trailer, he’s taking “one last look at his friends.” After 40 years, the Skywalker saga is coming to a close. Will the Resistance defeat the First Order? Will Rey defeat Kylo Ren? Can the Jedi overcome the Sith? All of these questions and more will be answered in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, now playing in theaters.

A year has passed since the events of The Last Jedi and the First Order still remains in power. Led by Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), the Resistance is preparing for one final showdown. However, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) will not go down without a fight.

New characters set to be introduced in Episode IX are Zorii Bliss (Keri Russell), Jannah (Naomi Ackie), and General Pryde (Richard E. Grant). Returning to The Rise of Skywalker from The Last Jedi is Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran), General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson), Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), and Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher). Notably, due to Fisher’s tragic death in 2016, Fisher’s appearance will be via archive footage.

The Rise of Skywalker will look to follow in the steps of its predecessors in terms of box office success. The Force Awakens grossed over $2 billion and The Last Jedi grossed over $1 billion. According to Box Office ProThe Rise of Skywalker is projecting an opening weekend gross of $180 million in North America, which would be the lowest total of the three films.
