Will The Mandalorian finally uncover Yoda’s species next season?
The season finale of The Mandalorian may have teased Yoda’s species and origins as Mando’s next quest in the second season.
Caution: There are some minor spoilers for The Mandalorian‘s first season finale. Read with caution.
It is sadly the end of the first season of one of the most intriguing Star Wars story to date. The Mandalorian has taken us on an exhilarating ride, and its final episode did not disappoint, ending this chapter with plenty of action, nostalgia, and of course, Baby Yoda. The only thing left to wonder is where the series will take us next, and it seems that next season’s objective may have been teased during the finale.

As Mando continues to attract unwanted Imperial heat for having custody of The Child, he has no choice but to admit what he has done to The Armorer. After hearing about Mando’s foundling, The Armorer tells Mando two important pieces of information that will affect the future of The Mandalorian. One, The Armorer has heard of an order of sorcerers called Jedi that fight with powers, much like Baby Yoda, from songs based on the battles of Mandalore The Great. Two, She tells Mando he has no choice as a Mandalorian but to be Baby Yoda’s caretaker until he can return him to his species.
It is likely that no matter where the next season will take Mando, he will be on a mission to find Baby Yoda’s people. The only problem is that no one has ever known the original Yoda’s species. We have no name for them, and we know close to nothing of their history specifically because George Lucas has spent a lifetime keeping a lid on revealing any information. So if The Mandalorian becomes the first TV series to unpack Yoda’s species and ancestral stomping grounds, it will historically be the first Star Wars production to do so.
My guess is that Mando will end up following the trail to cannon Jedi history. The Armorer already planted the seed by mentioning that Jedis had similar powers to Baby Yoda. And if you didn’t get the gist from The Armorer’s vagueness, not many people know at this time about the Jedi’s.
Sure enough, if Mando goes out there asking questions, he’s bound to find out that other little green beings joined the Jedi order, especially since there are three other known Jedis other than Yoda that are members of the species. We can only hope that through this research, Mando will uncover more about the species, and indirectly, Yoda.
If the season finale is any indication of what’s to come, then next season will be just as explosive and filled with jaw-dropping discovery. Mando’s adventures across the universe will likely take us to new places; it’s only going to feel like forever for the next season to come.
