Here are 5 movies to watch on Netflix in January 2020.

Messiah

Premieres: Jan. 1

A man portrayed by Mehdi Dehbi appears and quickly attracts a following. It is claimed that he can perform miracles, but CIA officer Eva Geller (Michelle Monaghan) will be the judge of that! She and several other officers begin to investigate the mystery that surrounds this man. Is this the Second Coming, or something else?

Anne with an E

Premieres: Jan. 3

The third and final season of Netflix’s coming-of-age drama, Anne with an E, premieres Jan. 3. If you have missed the first two seasons, we can’t say we blame you. Though the streaming giant was quick to renew the drama after the first season, it didn’t exactly receive much buzz from audiences.

Anne with an E follows Anne, and awkward, but charming teenager that was reluctantly adopted. Despite the cards life has dealt her, Anne seems to stay optimist and energetic. Ahead of its time, Anne with an E touches on topics such as feminism and bullying.

Sex Education Season 2

Premieres: Jan. 17

One of Netflix’s most popular and watched shows of 2019 is returning for its second season, the comedy-drama Sex Education! The series quickly capture our hearts with its story and easy-to-love characters. It also never pulls back any punches on tackling hard-hitting topics such as the struggles of the LGBTQ community.

More from Netflix

Sex Education stars Asa Butterfield as Otis Milburn, an awkward high school student who becomes popular for his knowledge of sex. He teams up with a friend and begins to charge fellow classmates for advice on women and men, both for relationships and sex. No, Otis isn’t that experienced (at all), but his mother is Jean (Gillian Anderson), a sex therapist.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 3

Premiere date: Jan. 24

Even though trailers and teasers (not to mention everyone in the cast and crew) tried to warn Netflix audiences that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina would not be at all like the original live action or cartoon series, we had to see it to believe it! Three seasons in, we believe it, but love it even more for being so unique.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is dark and bold. This re-imagining of Sabrina definitely stands out and left us with cliffhanger last time we saw our favorite witch! Tune in Jan. 24 for the Part 3.

Ragnarok

Premieres: Jan. 31

The year 2020 is gearing up to be all about drama and mystery, particularly thanks to Netflix’s Ragnarok. Not to be confused with the popular (and arguably one of the best) MCU chapter, Thor: Ragnarok, this upcoming Netflix series is set in the Norwegian town of Edda. Viewers will be following the town’s residents as the world as they know it is threatened.

Is Judgement Day coming (Ragnarok) or can the tragedies be stopped before it’s too late? Ragnarok is the first Netflix original series in the Norwegian language (don’t worry, there will be subtitles), and we all know how great Netflix’s foreign shows have been in the past. This one is not to be missed!
