Is Netflix’s Messiah addicting enough to binge-watch?
By Sandy C.
Among the new shows and movies Netflix updated its library with is Messiah. Is the mystery-drama worth binge-watching?
While not many movies make their debut this month on Netflix, the streaming giant is releasing various shows. One of these is Messiah, starring Mehdi Dehbi and Michelle Monaghan. The series follows a man (Dehbi) who is quickly attracting a large following and performing events that can’t be explained. Is this the Second Coming, something sinister, or nothing at all? CIA officer Eva Geller is on the case!
Believing to be starting a cult, Eva quickly creates a case to be allowed to keep an eye on the strange man. The first episode is packed with mystery and many contradicting moments. While at times the Messiah appears kind, he is also snappy and sketchy. Can he be trusted? The first episode alone is not enough for us to judge, but is the series intriguing enough for viewers to want to continue watching? Here’s our take! No spoilers ahead.
The first thing that grabs your attention is the unique concept. While there are various projects out that follow a similar story, not many are set in present time. This modern look allows viewers to imagine how things would be if this were to take place today.

By the end of the episode, you’ll definitely want to learn more. Not only will you be wanting to know the truth behind the Messiah, but you need more information about him to properly speculate. Information only more episodes can give you. Therefore, prepare to binge-watch several episodes in one sitting!
Additionally, there’s another equally interesting character, Eva. She’s tough and holds a lot of emotions back. It’s clear she has gone through hell and back, and cancer is hinted as well. You’ll want to learn more about her.
All in all, Messiah is an entertaining journey to watch that consists of 10 episodes (all just under an hour-long). It all leads to a cliffhanger of a finale that begs for a second season.
Messiah is now streaming on Netflix.
