10 animated movies to look forward to in 2020

10. Tom and Jerry

No surprise that this list is starting with animated movies that we don’t know much about and first up is Tom and Jerry. Based on the classic characters created by Hanna-Barbera, this one doesn’t have much to go on.

On IMDB, there is a sentence that basically gives us a bare-bones idea of what we could be getting into: “Adaption of the classic Hanna-Barbera property, which reveals how Tom and Jerry first meet and form their rivalry.”

The premise sounds pretty interesting as those two have been rivals for over 50 years. For those who don’t know, there was another Tom and Jerry movie released in 1992. After being left behind by their family, the two must team up to work together and save a girl in need. It sounds pretty similar to The Rescuers but not exactly. Either way, the film wasn’t well-received and is probably why they’re trying again.

One more critique was making Tom and Jerry talk so that could be something the new film could avoid. With a cast featuring Chloë Grace Moretz, Ken Jeong and Colin Jost, no doubt they’re going to do more than enough talking to make up for Tom and Jerry’s lack.

Of all the films on this list, this is one that’s the most hit-or-miss. Considering how beloved the characters are, it could be hard to get older fans to budge. Nevertheless, it opens the doors for the legions of new fans. Currently, Tom and Jerry are set to release on December 23rd, 2020.
