Friday TV ratings: Hawaii Five-0 down, Dateline up
Hawaii Five-0 saw an unsurprising downward tick in the TV ratings. Meanwhile, Dateline ticked up and Lincoln Rhyme premiered. Here’s a look at the night.
While The CW had a full night of reruns, ABC was mixed. NBC and CBS had a night of new programming and FOX kept its Friday night WWE lineup. The Friday TV ratings are in now, and here are the results.
CBS didn’t have the greatest night at first glance. However, it’s important to remember that this week followed the Hawaii Five-0/Magnum PI crossover. After season-highs for both shows, it’s not surprising to find out that both shows ticked down in the demo and total audience. Their downward ticks weren’t too dramatic, with Hawaii Five-0 seeing just a 5% and 11% loss in the audience and demo respectively and Magnum PI dropping 9% and 12% in the two metrics.

- Thursday TV ratings: Grey’s Anatomy up, Walker Independence down
- Wednesday TV ratings: One Chicago mixed, Kung Fu down (November 9)
- Tuesday TV ratings: The Resident and Monarch down (November 8)
- Monday TV ratings: All American down, Quantum Leap up (Nov. 7)
- Weekend live TV ratings: Fire Country and FBI mixed
Blue Bloods was better. As the demo remained steady, the total audience ticked up 2% to take the top spot of the entire night.
Meanwhile, ABC’s 20/20 new episode ticked down by 25% in the demo an 19% in the total audience. This isn’t anything to worry about all that much, as these true crime documentaries tend to move up and down depending on the topic. It’s also not too surprising considering there were reruns of American Housewife and Fresh Off the Boat.
Apart from FOX’s run of SmackDown, which matched Hawaii Five-0‘s top demo of the entire night and pulled 2.5 million viewers, NBC was the only other network to air new episodes. Dateline performed the best of the entire night in terms of change, ticking up 16% in the demo to joint top for the timeslot and up 21% in the audience to just short of 4 million.
Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector debuted on Jan. 10 to a 0.6 demo and 4.39 million viewers. While low-ish, the ratings are much better than The Blacklist, which held the timeslot in the fall. It’s hard to assess the future of the show just now. We’ll need to see how the viewership stabilizes over the next few weeks, especially when all shows return.
